Join us for an “exclusive” visit to two of northwest BC’s most inaccessible ghost towns. You will spend two full days and one night exploring the modern day ghost town of Kitsault and the famous silver mining town of Alice Arm. With special permission to visit both towns and stay overnight in the eerie apartments of the once thriving town of Kitsault, this tour offers the ultimate ghost town experience.
After a short welcome into Kitsault, you will settle into your rooms in Kitsault before boating across to Alice Arm where you will spend the day touring the legendary silver mining town and site of the once famous Dolly Varden Mining Railway, a narrow-gauge track that led up the Kitsault River to several rich mine sites. The town has several dilapidated cabins and stores, alongside modernized cabins used as summer retreats. You will have the opportunity to walk around the historic sites including the school, meet some locals and walk to a nearby waterfall, where salmon are seen spawning. For the evening, you will dine on a seafood barbecue at one of the town’s most scenic viewpoints, served by the only year-round residents of Alice Arm.
After a comfortable night’s sleep in the apartment building of the modern day Ghost Town of Kitsault, we will begin our day with exclusive access to the town’s buildings that have sat vacant since 1981. The tour includes stops at the shopping centre, swimming pool, movie theatre, gymnasium, curling rink, hospital, apartments, houses, Maple Leaf Pub, museum, squash courts, library, and much more.
The trip includes:
- Transportation from Terrace to Kitsault return
- All meals
- One night accommodation
